Hub centric rings perform an important function when mounting wheels. They help eliminate the chance of off centered mounting. You still want to tighten down your wheels in the proper pattern and to the proper torque.
The ring removes the gap between your hub and your aftermarket wheel. This makes it easy to mount and takes the stress off other components when trying to center the wheel on your hub.
